Jean Canter was based in Surrey and specialised in drawing and painting landscapes, for which she won several awards including the Heatherley Drawing Prize at Chelsea Art Society’s Open Exhibtion in 2013 and at the UK Coloured Pencil Society (UKCPS) Annual Exhibitions. She was elected to the Society of Graphic Fine Art in 1977 and held the roles of Honorary Secretary, Vice-President and President. She was an elected Gold Signature member of the UKCPS and a full member of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptures and Gravers. Jean’s work was frequently exhibited in London, Surrey and throughout the UK as well as featuring in a range of books and magazines. Sadly, Jean died suddenly in May, 2015. Her work has since been displayed in a number of memorial exhibitions. There will be a large exhibition of her work at Bourne Hall in Ewell from the 16th–26th March. See news and events for further details.
